After last month's poor showing, I am delighted to have a fair amount of progress to share with you ....... including two finishes!!
First, we have the sheepie wallhanging. I had already quilted round the sheepies with fmq
so I then quilted the outer border with straight lines
which gives a chequerboard at the corners
I trimmed the edges
and found this fabric in my stash for the binding
and here it is, the finished wallhanging
with a detail of the fmq round the sheepies
and a detail of the finished corner
alas, Mrs Billings is not the other finish ..... in fact you are probably saying "this looks the same as the last time we saw it"!! (the list on the right of the photo details the 17 projects - I thought if I put it up on the design wall it would encourage me to work harder!)
so this is the (somewhat insignificant) progress on Mrs B, stitching on more of the small hexies
this is the other finish, the stitch sampler that I started at a workshop with Sheena Norquay in 2013. Having decided that I had done enough stitching
I found this lovely piece of heavy silk in my upholstery fabric stash, and decided to make an ABC (Another B****y Cushion, as we quilters say!)
the centre trimmed, and the borders added
the finished cushion, sitting prettily on our bed
next, the Best Friends Forever hexies, up on the design wall. After moving them about over and over, I gave up and decided this arrangement was as good as any of the preceding ones
the rows clipped together, ready to sew
I almost forgot to take these photos to show how many hexies I have stitched together. As it was a very grey afternoon, the light wasn't very good for taking photos- and as it was raining I wasn't going to go out to the Attic, so instead of the design wall, you have the dark red carpet in the lounge as the not entirely suitable background
the other side of the hexies, showing off the bright Australian fabrics
and last, but by no means least, the quilt top which my fellow Squealer gave me when I last visited Melbourne (why are we called The Squealers ...... because we squeal with delight when we get together!!)
I needed something for the backing, and decided to use these six sparkly fat quarters
it didn't take long to cut six squares and stitch them together
and here is the wallhanging layered up, ready for quilting
so, I think that is a fair amount of significant progress, considering that I also quilted the penguin quilt, made the Sunbonnet Sue cushion cover for Kelly, and have done a lot of work on Potty McDotty (which I will show you on Tuesday). Remember to pop over to Meredithe's blog to see her progress report, then scroll to the bottom of her post for the linky thingy to see what the other participants in our challenge have done ........ and thanks again to Meredithe for doing the technical stuff!! Regular readers know that Friday means cake ...... this delicious confection is a slice of Sticky Toffee Shortbread Brownie ...... Malcolm and I forced ourselves to share it this afternoon, just to let you enjoy the thought of eating something so utterly delicious!! We have had a lot of rain over the last few days, but hopefully the weather will be better over the weekend. Whatever your weather, I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Love Anne
