We like celebrating things ........ cards stay up on the mantlepiece for weeks, and you know that we open a bottle of bubbly with the least of excuses! So last night we went out for a very special dinner, as part of the continuing celebration of Malcolm's birthday. This is where we went, as it looks in the daytime
but this is how it looks in the evening
we decided to sit outside to eat, as it was a lovely evening, but we did have a peek inside. The ship was built in Leith, back home in Scotland ........ I don't think I would like to sail all that way on such a small ship!
when I looked at the wine menu, it didn't take long to decide what to have ........
we both had the same to eat ....... a half lobster mornay. It was absolutely delicious - there was even a little dish of lemon mayo to dip the chips in!
we have been out walking round Sydney again today (we have to walk off all those calories!). When we stopped for a cuppa, this building was across the street
there were several of these knights way up at the top of the building ......
....... and also two of these slightly strange koalas!!
Malcolm pointed out a cockatoo which had landed on a streetlight behind me ........ of course as I turned to snap it, it flew off!!
to us, this is an interesting architectural detail, but to the ibis, it is just a convenient perch
we had an amazing blue sky again this morning (although it did cloud over and get rather windy later)
we saw the replica of the Endeavour setting sail from Darling Harbour......
......... and another large ship holding up the ferries as it sailed under the bridge
it's wonderful to get to enjoy spring for the second time this year!
ok, I know, yet another view of the Opera House and Bridge, but this was an attempt at an arty one!
and just to make me a happy girl ....... big machines!! There is a major project underway at the Opera House, to create an underground delivery dock, which will not only improve the traffic situation, but also enhance the pedestrian access
We are having a special day out tomorrow, then on Sunday we hit the road, to drive to Melbourne. We have two overnight stops on the way, so I may not be back until Tuesday or Wednesday to let you know about our latest adventures in Oz!
I hope you all have a good weekend, love Anne
