Happy Birthday Malcolm!
We have been celebrating all weekend! On Saturday we were invited to have dinner with Lee, her husband John and their gorgeous, talented daughters Taylor and Lilly (who staged an impromptu concert for us!). We had a wonderful meal, finished off with birthday cake .......
then yesterday (Sunday) was Fathers' Day here ........ so we started off with a walk through the beautiful Chinese Garden
followed by delicious eggs benedict for brunch
and now for the big day! We decided to go out for lunch, rather than dinner, to make the most of the beautiful weather. Lee and John had recommended this restaurant
and it was FABULOUS!! First, there was the view from our table
then there was the amazing food. We both had the "wine flight" menu, with three different dishes, accompanied by three different wines. Malcolm chose the white wine option
scallops, baby calamari and prawns
while I went for the mixed red and white menu (as I don't eat prawns)
calamari, twice cooked pork and fillet of beef
it's much too embarassing to show you the photos with all the glasses of wine on the table!! Our charming young waitress had asked if we were celebrating something special ........ so when dessert arrived .......
poached pears and chocolate tart
and it's not quite over yet! We have some takeaway sushi for later, and of course a bottle of bubbly. When we were little, we could never have imagined that Malcolm would celebrate his 60th birthday here , and that I would celebrate mine in Singapore!!
