Blooming Bright

 

This was done for a challenge, using set fabrics.  One of the fabrics was very bright, so I used it for the stems, so it wasn't too dominant

Shades of Grey

 

This is my "political" quilt.  After the awful events of 9/11, I felt that the world had split in two.  Were you for us or against us, friend or foe.  Everything seemed to be black and white - no shades of grey.

Well, it's bright ......

 

This was made some years ago for the Scottish Quilt Championships - the category, I think, was "all things bright and beautiful".  It is entirely handstitched and hand quilted

A Nice Cup of Tea

 

When I left Greenpark Quilters in 1997, to go out to live in Indonesia, the members presented me with these blocks (the first thing I did on arriving at the group on Friday mornings was have a cuppa!)  I finally made the blocks into this wallhanging in 2000, when we were due to come home!

 

ps - did you notice there is one left-handed mug!

Celtic Beginnings

 

This was going to be a quilt for our bed ...... but then we went to Indonesia, then when we came back we moved house and had a different colour scheme in the bedroom - so it never got finished!  Eventually I put these four blocks together to make a wallhanging (I still have the other blocks with the patterns marked on, so one day I might finish them)

Malcolm drew the patterns for me!

Crazy Ladies' Stars and Stripes

 

I bought a pack of red, white and blue fabrics when I was in a shop called Crazy Ladies and Friends, in Santa Monica, California.  It didn't take long to come up with this idea for a wallhanging, to remind me of the wonderful six days I spent there.  I was on my own, and the first evening I went out for dinner, the waiter was very attentive - it turned out that he thought I had been stood up by my date and felt sorry for me!!

Sunset over The Bay

 

This is made entirely with batik fabrics ...... lots of little pieces held in place with big quilting stitches - that was quite a challenge as I "don't do big"!!
