After yesterday's diversions of lambs and little birds, it's time to share the weekend's happenings with you! On Sunday morning, we went for a walk. It was a bit grey, although typically it brightened up as soon as we were back home. Last week I showed you Ruberslaw standing out against a clear sky. This photo shows you a rather misty view of the other side of the hill
We rather liked this collection of signs - although I think we would have got rather lost of we had gone off in the directions they were showing
We didn't have far to look for signs of spring, with lots of daffodils under the trees
However, the woods had suffered a lot of damage in the winter storms. This tree ......
........ came down across the path - fortunately nobody was hurt
Further on, we found the remains of an even bigger tree
When we saw the marks on this tree, we thought at first that it was just random cuts, but if you look closely, it is a double eagle, with the word 'Poland' underneath
Malcolm was disappointed that I wouldn't put this log pile in my handbag, to take back home to replenish the log store, which is looking rather empty
On both Saturday and Sunday afternoons, I was busy working on the tractor quilt. First, I cut the dinosaur fleece to size, and sprayed it with basting adhesive
Then I carefully put the quilt top in place, making sure there were no wrinkles
I also made a sandwich with offcuts, so that I could check my tension, before I started quilting.
I am using 'invisible' thread for the quilting, so that I don't have to keep changing colour. Of course this means that you can't really see the quilting on the right side, but here is how it looks on the wrong side
Tomorrow, we're heading off down the A68 to Northumberland - but where are we going and what are we doing?
