Almost over!

 

 

On the beach

I have mentioned before that the winter storms caused changes to the beach, with a lot of groynes being uncovered

 

these old bits of wood have lots of different colours

 

 

and interesting shapes

 

this has had a newer piece of wood added at the back

 

I changed the setting on the camera to B&W

 

I had to wait until a dog, then the dog's owners, then the dog again, got out of the way to take this photo!

 

I like the different textures on this old piece of wood

 

a mix of old wood and bolts, attached to new wood

 

going back to colour shows up the contrast better!

Post boxes

 There are all sorts of post boxes throughout Britain, but most of them are made in Scotland.  Machan Engineering is one of the main firms making them.  Here is just a small collection that I have seen recently

 

 

Frustration!!

Oh dear, I was going to show you photos of the delicious dinner we had last night, but TypePad absolutely refuses to insert the photos!  So I will just have to tell you that Malcolm had fish and I had chicken ..........

Red shells

At the far end of Spittal beach, a stream comes out of the cliff.  It is very red, probably because of iron in the rocks

 

I first noticed that these two shells had been dyed red by the water

 

then I saw these ones

 

and these ones

 

and even a golf ball stuck in a cleft of rock had turned red!

 

while I was taking the photos, Malcolm suddenly called out "watch your back".  Usually he shouts this when I haven't noticed a big wave coming up behind me, but this time it was a little Jack Russell.  I'm glad that I had finished taking photos of the shells on this little outcrop of rocks, because the dog ....... well, he did what boy dogs do!

 

Glorious!

First, thank you for all your lovely comments, and I am glad that you are enjoying the random posts.  We had some showers on Saturday and Sunday morning, but since then we have had blue skies.  I know that some of you at home had snow last week, so I hope you enjoy these photos!

 

Birds big and small

Of course the biggest birds we see are the swans in Berwick

 

then there are gulls

 

ducks enjoying the sunshine

 

the birds in the garden are somewhat smaller - first a robin in the bath

 

then a chaffinch

 

and I think these are greenfinches 

 

to finish - a chaffinch being photo bombed by a blackbird!

It's very tiring .......

........ being a lamb!

 

and it can be quite tiring too, being a horse

 

but donkeys are made of sterner stuff!

Sunshine and showers

Yesterday we drove a few miles along the coast to Alcudia.  After strolling round the town, we of course went for a cuppa, sitting out in a lovely courtyard

I had trouble taking photos of the cakes, but did better with this photo of our lunch

it was raining when we got up this morning

so no 20 lengths of the pool

but the rain did go off for a while, and we went into town for a cuppa, and I managed to take a photo of my cake

sorry for the wonky spacing and any typos, but I can't persuade the Kindle to let me proof read/edit the post

 

Gratitude

One morning last week, I rescued a butterfly which was trapped in a spider's web in the garage.  It showed its gratitude by coming back in the afternoon and posing on the new planter in the front garden

 

but this bee wasn't so co-operative - you can only just see it below the big leaf
